Here is the greeting message from Dr. Stephen Moss:

Stephen Moss x Birdfy

Hi everyone – my name’s STEPHEN MOSS, and I’m now working as a consultant with the Birdfy team, to advise them and also help you with this really exciting product. I’m delighted to connect with you all in the Backyard Bird Lovers community, and look forward to interacting with you in the future, and sharing my lifelong passion for birds.

I’m one of the UK’s leading nature writers, broadcasters and wildlife TV producers. Originally from London, after graduating with a degree in English from the University of Cambridge I joined the BBC, and spend many years making wildlife programmes with the world-famous BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol. These include Big Cat Diary, which was broadcast in the Unites States on PBS, the BAFTA-award winning Springwatch, and films and books with Sir David Attenborough. During my time as a TV producer I travelled to all seven of the world’s continents to watch, film, and write about birds.

I have written more than 40 books on birds and wildlife, which have been published in more than a dozen countries, and include several about attracting birds to your garden or backyard. Those available in the USA include Mrs Moreau’s Warbler: How Birds got their Names, The Bumper Book of Nature, and my latest book, Ten Birds that Changed the World, to be published in September 2023. I also teach a Masters’ degree in Nature and Travel Writing at Bath Spa University, where I recently gained my PhD.

For nearly 20 years now I have been living with my family in Somerset, in the west of England, where I am President of the Somerset Wildlife Trust. We have a very large garden which attracts lots of birds, some of which have already started to visit my Birdfy feeder. This is placed right outside my garden office, so I can watch the birds while I work – quite a distraction sometimes!

I am really look forward to watching even more of your wonderful video clips and photos of the birds visiting your Birdfy feeders; and answering your questions, both on feeding birds, and also how we can improve the product – and introduce exciting new ones – to make the Birdfy experience even more special!

All the best – Dr Stephen Moss
